Chengdu

Home of the giant panda, fiery Sichuan cuisine, and China's most relaxed teahouse culture.

About Chengdu

Chengdu doesn't rush. This is the city where people spend entire afternoons in teahouses playing mahjong, where the pandas get fed bamboo at 9am (and you can watch), and where the hotpot is so spicy it will make you cry — in a good way. Chengdu is also the gateway to Tibet and the perfect base for exploring Mount Emei, the Leshan Giant Buddha, and the wider Sichuan province. Come for the pandas, stay for the slow life.
