China Travel Atlas is operated by Shenzhen Huyi International Travel Agency Co., Ltd. (“China Travel Atlas,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This policy applies when you visit chinatravelatlas.com, use our planning tools, save a trip, contact us, or request travel services.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Contact details such as your name, email address, phone number, country, and preferred contact method.
- Trip preferences such as dates, destinations, group size, budget range, pace, interests, accessibility needs, and notes you choose to share.
- Messages, feedback, and consent choices submitted through our forms.
- Booking information required to arrange a service. If sensitive details such as passport information are required, we will request them through an appropriate channel and explain why.
Information collected automatically
Our hosting and security providers may process IP address, browser and device details, referring pages, timestamps, request logs, and approximate location to deliver, secure, diagnose, and improve the website. We do not currently sell personal information.
2. How we use information
- Provide planning tools, saved itineraries, requested information, and travel services.
- Respond to inquiries and communicate about a request or booking.
- Operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the website.
- Send marketing messages only where you have made the relevant choice; you may unsubscribe at any time.
- Comply with legal obligations and protect travelers, our business, and other users.
3. Legal bases and consent
Depending on where you live, we process information because it is necessary to provide a service you requested, because you gave consent, because we have a legitimate interest in operating a secure and useful website, or because the law requires it. Where consent is the basis, you may withdraw it without affecting earlier lawful processing.
4. Service providers and international transfers
We use carefully selected providers to host the site, store data, deliver email, monitor reliability, and process requests. These may include Vercel (hosting and delivery), Supabase (database services), Resend or another email provider if enabled, Open-Meteo (weather data), and OpenAI only if the optional AI-assisted planner is enabled. Providers process data under their own terms and may operate in several countries.
We may also share necessary booking information with hotels, guides, transport operators, ticketing services, insurers, payment providers, and public authorities when required to fulfill your request or comply with law. We do not permit them to use the information for unrelated purposes.
5. AI-assisted planning
If the optional AI input feature is enabled, text you enter is sent to our AI service provider to extract planning preferences. Do not enter passport numbers, financial details, health records, or other sensitive information. AI output is used only as an input to our own route-ranking rules and may be inaccurate. The standard planner remains available without AI.
6. Cookies, local storage and analytics
We use essential cookies or browser storage for security, session management and preferences. We also offer optional, privacy-limited Google Analytics to understand aggregate page use and improve our guides and tools. Analytics remains disabled unless you choose “Accept analytics” in our privacy panel.
When enabled, Google Analytics may set first-party analytics cookies and process page URL, referral information, browser or device details, approximate geography and interaction timestamps. We disable Google advertising signals and do not use this configuration for ad personalization. Google and our hosting providers may process technical data in several countries under their own terms.
You can decline analytics without losing access to the website. You can change your choice at any time through the “Privacy choices” control shown on public pages. Declining a later request stops future analytics loading in that browser; you may also clear existing site data through your browser settings.
7. Retention and security
We keep information only for as long as reasonably needed for the purpose collected, contractual and accounting requirements, dispute handling, and legal obligations. Retention periods vary by record type. We apply reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security.
Saved-trip URLs use hard-to-guess tokens and are marked not to be indexed. Anyone who receives the URL may be able to view that saved trip, so do not include sensitive information and do not publish the link.
8. Your choices and rights
Subject to applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, or withdrawal of consent. You may also opt out of marketing emails. We may need to verify your identity and may retain information where legally required.
9. Children
Our website is intended for adults planning travel. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 16 without appropriate authorization. A parent or guardian should contact us if they believe a child has submitted information.
10. Changes and contact
We may update this policy as our services or legal obligations change. Material changes will be identified by the date above. Questions and privacy requests may be sent to info@chinatravelatlas.com.
