Wuxi

A prosperous Taihu Lake city — ancient canal districts, silk heritage, and cherry blossoms rivaling Japan's best.

About Wuxi

Wuxi sits on the shores of Taihu, China's third-largest freshwater lake, and has been one of China's wealthiest cities for centuries. The Grand Canal runs through its center, and the Qingming Bridge historic district preserves canal-side warehouses and merchant houses. Wuxi's standout attraction is Yuantouzhu (Turtle Head Isle), a park on a peninsula jutting into Taihu that holds 30,000 cherry trees — the blossom display in late March rivals anything in Japan. Wuxi is also the hometown of the ancient Wu culture and was a center of China's silk industry.
