Sanya

China's Hawaii — tropical beaches, palm trees, and the only place in the country where you can swim year-round.

About Sanya

Sanya is the only tropical city in China — a beach resort on the southern tip of Hainan Island where the South China Sea meets 25km of white sand. It's where Chinese tourists go for winter sun, and where Russian tourists go to escape Siberian winters. Yalong Bay has the best sand and clearest water; Haitang Bay has luxury resorts; and the Nanshan Cultural Tourism Zone has a 108-meter Guanyin statue rising from the sea. Sanya is not a cultural destination — it's a beach destination, and if you approach it that way, the palm trees, coconuts, and warm water deliver.
