Huangshan (Yellow Mountain)

黄山

Huangshan (Yellow Mountain)

China's most painted mountain — granite peaks rising from a sea of clouds, twisted pines clinging to cliffs, and sunrises that have inspired artists for a thousand years.

About Huangshan (Yellow Mountain)

Huangshan is the mountain every Chinese landscape painting tries to capture. Its 72 granite peaks rise above a permanent sea of clouds, and ancient pines grow horizontally from cliff faces in shapes that defy gravity. The sunrise from Bright Summit, when golden light floods through the cloud layer, is one of the most photographed moments in China. Below the mountain, Hongcun and Xidi villages preserve Ming-era Hui architecture — white walls, black tiles, and reflecting ponds that look like ink paintings come to life. Spend a night on the summit to catch both sunset and sunrise.
