Chongqing

China's mountain city and the cyberpunk capital of the Yangtze — a vertical megacity of neon, cliffs, and the world's spiciest hotpot.

About Chongqing

Chongqing is a city that shouldn't exist. Built on steep mountains where the Yangtze and Jialing rivers meet, it is a 3D city where the 22nd floor of one building connects to the street level of the next. Neon lights reflect off river fog at night, the monorail passes through a residential building's 6th floor, and the hotpot is so spicy it makes Sichuan hotpot look mild. Chongqing is also the starting point for most Yangtze River cruises to the Three Gorges. The city's wartime history as China's capital during WWII (when it was bombed for five years) adds depth to its brash, energetic present.
